Babysteps....

It's been a month that we have been here. We've met some forever friends and watched all these strong children fight for the smallest milestones. Every one of us has a different story but on this floor we all have one very important thing in common, we are all just surviving. Tired eyes, walking the halls of this place holding on to any amount of hope and celebrating and praising our children's smallest victories. Hair loss isn't a victory but it's one of the first things these children and parents see right after they start chemo. Every chemo effecting our babies differently. Every surgery bringing fear, not knowing what the effects after. Some learning to speak again, walk, talk, overcome PTSD from all the trauma and the list goes on. Every child on this floor has brought tears to my eyes watching them just be freaking amazing! Watching every mother sacrifice day after day. Quitting their jobs, leaving their other children with other loved ones so they can do anything for their sick child. It's humbling to watch all the strength and I think thats what helps me get through, knowing I'm not alone.

Olivia getting her haircut after it starting falling out so fast it got to tangled to brush.

Sweet Olivia and her momma have over came so much helping her fight through her brain tumor surgery, chemo, radiation, physical therapy. Doing it ALL by herself, Diana has made it look easy. I know she misses her other babies so much. I've watched her never leave Olivia's side.

From a fresh cut to her holding her heading up all by herself Olivia is doing it! Witnessing her stand up assisted and play a little basketball, she had all the nurses and mommas crying happy tears because it's the little things on this floor. If you ever need a dose of inspiration come see the children and parents on 6A.

Olivia starts her next chapter of treatment this week. She finishes her 30 rounds of radiation. Her and Diana will be going to Atlanta for 5 weeks of intense physical therapy. And then they return to finish chemotherapy. Let's take a moment to send this strong girl and her momma all the positivity and love. And lets be thankful for life and health today!
